ABOUT
THE CLUB
Ealing Marlins are an autonomous house (branch) of Ealing
Swimming Club, a voluntary organisation dedicated to promoting and encouraging
the sport of swimming. Our club caters for swimmers* of all abilities. For those
swimmers who wish to aim for the very top of their sport, the club has a progressive
training scheme run by an Olympic Coach.
We have implemented the new ‘National Plan for
Teaching Swimming’. This is an Amateur Swimming Association(A.S.A.) endorsed
template for all swimming schemes that focuses on establishing a sound foundation
in the basic elements of propulsion in all strokes. There is also continuing
emphasis on the importance of streamlining, breath control & rotation.
Our teachers & coaches are qualified to teach & coach swimming under A.S.A.
certification & have completed a pool lifeguard course.
Ealing Marlins objectives are:
Ealing Marlins swimmers are placed in one of four teams that compete throughout the year in specialised in-house galas. They are the BARRACUDAS, RED DEVILS, PACIFIC BLUES & RAPIDS. This prepares swimmers to be in a team environment, building confidence & encouraging team spirit. At the same time it teaches skills of competition & adopts a mentorship system for the younger less experienced swimmers.
Many of our swimmers represent Ealing Swimming Club at junior & senior level. They are also encouraged to swim on an individual basis for any galas they choose to participate in.
* By agreement with the pool management we are not permitted to teach learn-to-swim. If you can swim a width in two or more strokes, you are considered a swimmer.Copyright © 2000 by Jugui
